Reducing stress for your beloved pets

Reducing stress for your beloved pets

Peace of mind that your pets are healthy and happy while you holiday is so important. While we take every measure to reduce stress, some pets may experience stress simply because of the sudden change in their environment.

Extreme stress in rabbits can lead to a condition called GI Stasis which causes a range of nasty symptoms such as tummy upset and loss of appetite. This can lead to dehydration, which puts your animal in danger.

To prevent any serious illness from occurring, our policy is to call owners at the very first sign of stress and/or GI Stasis. If you are unable to collect your pet or send someone who can, we will take them straight to the vet for treatment on your behalf.

Because rabbits are especially susceptible to stress, we recommend a trial stay before you book for a holiday or extended stay, to get them familiar with their new environment.

How it Works

Fill out an Application Form

Enquire via the contact form and fill out a few quick details about your pet/s.

Get to know us

We recommend a preliminary visit for your pets before you travel to ensure they will settle safely while you are away. This way, your animals will have the chance to get used to their new environment while you’re still close at hand.

Book your small animal boarding

Reserve your dates in our calendar and ensure your pet’s vaccinations are all up-to-date. We take a non-refundable 20% deposit of the total cost of the stay, with the remainder due two weeks beforehand.

Drop off your pet

Drop off your pet at our facility anytime between 12pm to 2pm; this gives us enough time to ensure they are settled before bedtime. There is plenty of parking available on-site.

Be reunited with your furry friend

On your return, feel free to collect your pet anytime between 8am and 10am. Collections must take place in the morning to allow us enough time to sterilise each hutch for the next arrival. If you are arriving home in the afternoon, you will need to book an additional night’s stay and collect your pet the following morning.

What to bring

Boarding for Rabbits and Guinea Pigs

Healthy Pets: Please check your pets for any sign of illness, snuffles, matted fur, mite or lice infestations before you bring them in for boarding. For the safety of all of our animals, we cannot take any pets that appear unwell or injured on arrival.

Vaccination Record: Please ensure your pet’s vaccination cards are up to date and bring them with you to show us during the drop-off. Rabbits should be vaccinated with Nobivac Myxo-RHD PLUS to protect against myxomatosis and rabbit haemorrhagic disease (RHD). Animals should be vaccinated at least 3 weeks prior to check-in.

Dry Food: To avoid any upset tummies, we kindly ask that you provide the regular dry food your animals eat, with enough to last for the duration of their stay.

Toys and Extras: If your animal has a favourite toy or blanket, you may want to bring this too to help them settle into their new environment with something familiar nearby.
